Beginning in 2007, we have had tremedous founding strategic research partners, who have worked with us to develop the Durationator. They have given us samples of work, asked us really hard questions, and challenges us to think about how to best make the system not only complete with regard to the research but accessible and usable to lawyers, archivists, scholars, artists, and content owners.
Dr. Vicki Mayer was one of our earliest founding research partners, and our projects have grown up together. Vick is mapping the culture of New Orleans using students' research and writing of events of the past combined with old images and new (ones the students are taking). Dr. Mayer included us in her Digital Humanities Grant, and we have worked to understand the issues related to archival materials and the use of those materials as part of classroom projects.
Debbie Kempe from the Frick approached us about becoming a strategic research partner about year ago. She, along with Milan Hughston at MOMA, have graciously given us samples--7000 Latin American works, and 200 works from the El Techo de la Ballena collection, along with about a dozen other queries. Their questions have pushed our system in new directions and discoveries.
